This was our 3rd time staying at Brian and Rosemary’s incredible beachfront place, and it just keeps getting better. The hosts are warm, friendly, and genuinely welcoming — they make you feel right at home from the moment you arrive. The accommodation is spotless, comfortable, and has everything you could possibly need for a relaxing stay. And you simply can't beat the location — steps from the beach, with the sound of the waves as your daily soundtrack. We’ll definitely be back again… and again. Highly recommended!

Beautiful stay - lovely views 10/10 Beautiful property. Room was lovely and spacious. Streaming services were provided with the TV which is appreciated. The mini kitchen, including the microwave, was perfect since you’re more likely to get your own takeaway in this town rather than go out to eat. Perfect for a quiet getaway. Beautiful views over the water. Parking is available. Wish I had booked for longer.

Pretend you are on a tropical Island! We enjoy being right on the beach and have returned several times to relax and enjoy the laid back atmosphere. Our unit was clean, homely and comfortable, with everything we needed. Our small doggie enjoyed her complimentary treats and doggie towel. Thanks again Rosemary.

GOLDEN SAND “Beachfront accommodation” is an understatement at this Cable Bay establishment. Its five apartments and suites are all a few jandalled steps away from sand and sea, but the beachside cabana takes the prize. It is cleverly self-contained, funkily furnished and you’ll find yourselves cancelling that restaurant dinner for homestyle burgers and kumara chips from the Cable Bay store, eaten at your outdoor table. There are loaner e-bikes for a spin to Mangōnui but, honestly, you won’t want to leave. goldensand.co.nz

Golden Sand is amazing. The beach is literally right out your front door (and I do not use that term lightly). My family thinks I am a hero for finding this place, but was just super lucky to stumble upon it while searching online. If you were as lucky as me and it is available for the nights you need hurry and book it. So amazing. We are from the states and if we are ever lucky enough to make it back to New Zealand this will be at the top of our list for where to stay. The owners were super helpful and friendly. Everything was fantastic!

Location can NOT be beat - the deck is literally steps from the beach - at low tide there are rocky outcroppings for kids to hunt crabs, sea stars, mudskippers and sea urchin -at high tide still so much sandy beach to enjoy. The unit we stayed in was stylish and practical, had a full working kitchen and a large shower. Huge front window and patio door lets you essentially live right on the beach. Absolutely gorgeous stay at Golden Sand. Our 2 bedroom unit suited us to perfection and everything was spotless. The beach front location and views are stunning and our hosts most welcoming. Highly recommend this delightful spot. We’ll be back soon I hope.

Outstanding slice of paradise Such a beautiful spot with a very relaxed beachy feel. Shower was outstanding and we loved how everything was there for cooking and it felt like being at home. We left feeling refreshed and wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you so much!

Very warm welcome from the host, thank you Brian. The unit overlooks the picturesque beachfront of Cable Bay. Amazing. Very Kid Friendly with plagrounds closeby. High standard facilities. Awesome heat pump. Excellent shower and shops close to amenities. Chilled the whole time. Kids got to watch their favorite Nick Junior channel away from home. Quiet and secluded. Lovely to wake up to the high tide rolling waves outside your door step. Would treat the family to another stay in the future. Well worth it. Our names were on a little notice board on our arrival. A nice touch. We were emailed the arrangements of booking. Well organised.

We would recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing break up North. This was the most perfect place to stay for a relaxing break. The view, the sound of the sea, the facilities, the decor could not have been better.

Fantastic place to stay, all amenities are thoughtfully placed. Very comfy bed, awesome shower and great kitchen setup. Lovely hosts and nothing was to much trouble. The views from the so are beautiful! We stayed 2 nights but will be back for a longer stay

This apartment was in the best location ever being right on the beach- very clean and looked quite new. Everything that ups could think of was provided and there was a great coffee shop with excellent fish and chips and lunch food right across the road also with friendly staff.

'We had the most amazing time here at Rosemary’s place in Cable Bay. You could not get a better location, right on the beach with incredible views of the bay. The accommodation provides everything you need and more, with a full kitchen, laundry, BBQ and spa pool. Being dog friendly, it was perfect for us to bring our fur baby who had the time of his life enjoying the surf at Cable Bay beach and Coopers Beach. There’s plenty to do and explore in the area plus great food too - the ice cream at the local store, the Mangonui Fish Shop and The Thai restaurant are all not to be missed! Rosemary is a fantastic host and we can’t wait to come back to enjoy her slice of paradise again soon.'

Wow,wow & wow! My husband & I (& our little poodle) had the pleasure to stay in the Cabana for 4 nights 10/09-13/09. The accommodation was top notch and of course the position was unbeatable. Accommodation that allows pets to be included is often disappointing so Golden Sands is a keeper! The little extras provided made for money well spent. Thank you Rosemary & Brian.

Great view, Kid-friendly Recently stayed here with our entire whanau, we had THE best time here. We rented out 4 units, so we all had our own space each. No frills, no pretensions. Superbly restful beds, so you'll sleep well. They have just what you need, nothing you don't. Close by, you can find great places to eat. Walk a few metres out your front door, and you're on one of the most beautiful beaches anywhere on Earth. At your disposal are kayaks and fishing tackle. There's a Weber Q barbecue available - all part of the package. Comfort in Paradise! Pinch yourself, it's real.

Awesome accommodation! Literally right on the beach, with spectacular views. House sleeps three comfortably and has a pull out couch if needed. Modern furniture with a twist of retro gives the house a warm inviting feel. Fully equipped with a BBQ, outdoor furniture and plenty of parking this is a fantastic spot to relax and explore.
